Go to OpenAI’s website

• Head over to the OpenAI website. If you don’t have an account, sign up for one.

Navigate to the API keys page

• Once logged in, go to the API keys page

  • Click on Dashboard in menu in the top right corner
  • Click on API keys in the menu on the left

  

Add credits to your open AI account

Note:

• You will need to have added at least 5$ to your OpenAI account to be able to use TypeCharm. This will bump you to the you to the first usage tier.

• If you create your API key before adding any credit to your OpenAI account, you will need to generate a new key. Your old key will not be bumped to the next tier. </aside>

• Go to Billing

• Click on Add to credit balance

• Add your payment method

• Click on Continue

Create a new API key

• On the API keys page, click the “Create new secret key” button. A new key will be generated. Copy this key as you’ll need it to integrate with TypeCharm.
• Potential issue: Ensure you copy the entire key. Any partial key will cause errors when added to TypeCharm.

Add the OpenAI key to TypeCharm

• Open TypeCharm in Google Sheets, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner to open settings, and paste the API key into the appropriate field under “OpenAI API Key.”
• Potential issues: Make sure to save the settings after entering the key, or it won't be applied.
